TOM Sparrow has signed a new two-year deal with Melbourne, taking his tenure to at least the end of 2026.

The reliable midfielder is highly respected both on and off-field, awarded the James McDonald Trophy as the Demons’ TRUE player in 2023 – the player who best embodies the values of the club.

Tim Lamb, Melbourne Football Club List Manager, spoke glowingly about the 23-year-old and his future in the red and blue.

“We are thrilled that Tom has agreed to extend his time with us,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.

He has developed into a really important player, and we are confident he still has enormous growth in his game.

“Tom is hugely respected by all within the Club. He is the ultimate professional and is a developing leader within our group.

“We look forward to what he can achieve in the next phase of his career.”

With 74 career games since his debut in 2019, the trusted Demon is closing in on the 100-match milestone in season 2024.

Alongside the likes of Christian Salem, Jack Viney, and Christian Petracca, Sparrow forms part of a new-look midfield, but with the versatility to play forward when needed.

In the most recent AAMI Community Series match against Carlton, he managed 20 disposals and booted three goals.

The good news comes as Melbourne prepares to begin its 2024 campaign in Opening Round against Sydney on Thursday night.
