MELBOURNE has made a late change to its starting lineup against Fremantle on Saturday afternoon, with Georgia Gall to debut at Casey Fields.

Gall, a key forward, will run out for the first time in red and blue since being drafted prior to season 7 in 2022.

The 19-year-old, 183cm forward was part of the Melbourne Stars BBL team before transitioning to football.

Gall has made a name for herself as a dominating force in match scrimmage games this season, and was the standout player in the most recent match.

"Georgia is a promising young player, and her selection is a testament to the mountain of work she's put in towards continual improvement,” Marcus Wagner, GM Football Operations and AFLW, told Melbourne Media.

“She's earned this opportunity, and we can't wait to see what she can produce for us this weekend."

Gall will replace defender Maddi Gay, who was ruled out late with some hamstring soreness.

"Maddi experienced some hamstring soreness at training last night, which unfortunately means she will miss tomorrow’s game,” Wagner said.

“She'll undertake a scan today and we'll continue to monitor her over the coming days."

Saturday’s match will take place at Melbourne’s south-east home of Casey Fields, with the first bounce set for 1:05pm.
