INS – Laurie, Tomlinson
OUTS – Grundy, Jordon (omitted), Hibberd (omitted, Round 22 sub)

MELBOURNE has called upon Bailey Laurie and Adam Tomlinson to join its final 22 as it prepares to take on Hawthorn this Sunday.

Tomlinson enters the side after another dominant display in the VFL last weekend, registering 29 disposals and eight marks. The tall defender will bring experience and strength into the contest down back.

Similarly, Laurie comes into the team after numerous standout performances for Casey. In what will be his third senior game, the young Demon’s speed and agility will add further depth to an already star-studded midfield.

Brodie Grundy, James Jordon and Michael Hibberd have all been omitted from the starting line-up, while Grundy and Jordon join Charlie Spargo and Josh Schache on the emergency list.

Sunday’s game will see milestones celebrated by two Demons.

Max Gawn will run out in the red and blue for the 200th time, an important milestone for the ruckman who’s had an immeasurable impact on the club and league as a whole.

With 14 years at the top level and four as captain of the Demons, the loveable larrikan has collected numerous accolades along the way including six All-Australian nods, two club best and fairest awards and a drought-breaking premiership.

Alex Neal-Bullen will run out alongside Gawn to celebrate his own 150-game milestone.

Neal-Bullen has been a significant contributor to the Dees since joining the club in 2014, taking on a key role in the forward line and developing into an influential leader among the playing group.

Round 23 will also Melbourne celebrate its much-loved Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) Pink Lady match.

As part of a long-standing partnership between the club and BCNA, the match looks to celebrate the work of the organisation, raising awareness and providing support and services for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

This game will also mark the return of BCNA’s Field of Women. Last occurring in 2018, the Field of Women brings the statistics of breast cancer to life, with thousands of people standing together in the centre of the MCG to form the silhouette of BCNA’s Pink Lady.
