MELBOURNE has delisted speedster Sam Blease and rebounding defender James Strauss.

Blease played 33 matches for Melbourne from 2011-14, including two this year.

A NAB AFL Rising Star nominee twice (2011-12), Blease’s best season was 2012 when he played 16 matches and booted 19 goals, including five against St Kilda in round 20.

He was drafted at No.17 (a priority selection) in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.

Strauss managed 24 matches for the Demons from 2010-13, but didn’t add to his tally this year.

His best season was 2011 when he played nine matches.

Strauss was selected in the same draft as Blease and taken two picks later at No.19.

The duo showed plenty of promise in their time at Melbourne, but several injuries also impacted their time at the club.

Meanwhile, midfielder James Harmes has been given a second-year on Melbourne’s rookie list.

Harmes, who was selected at No.2 in last year’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft, showed good progression for Casey in the VFL in 2014.

The 19-year-old was recruited from Devon Meadows/Dandenong Stingrays.
