Melbourne veteran Mitch Brown has decided to retire from the AFL after 14 seasons. 

The 32-year-old, who played in Sunday’s VFL Premiership with the Casey Demons, will finish his career with 79 games and 74 goals at senior level.

Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb thanked Brown for his contribution to the club.

“To have been on an AFL list for 13 seasons is a fantastic achievement and something Mitch should be very proud of,” Lamb Told Melbourne Media.

“Mitch has been able to get every ounce out of himself and his longevity in the system is  testament to his character.

“We wish Mitch all the best for the future and thank him for his contribution to the club.”

A versatile key-position player, Brown played nine senior games in his time at the Demons, and was a stand-out for the Casey Demons is its premiership winning season in 2022. 

The former Bomber and Cat, joined the red and blue during the AFL's Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) in the 2020 pre-season.

In addition to Brown’s retirement, the Demons have made one further list change, with youngster Fraser Rosman informed that he will not receive a contract for the 2023 season.



Rosman was selected with pick No. 34 in the 2020 National Draft.

Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb thanked Rosman for his contribution to the team over the last two seasons.

“These decisions are obviously difficult given the competition for spots on our list,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, we would like to thank Fraser for his hard-work and commitment during his time with us.”

The 20-year-old, played 24 matches for the Casey Demons over his two years.
