A squad of 40 players that is in contention for selection for the 2022 Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year has been announced.
The final team will be named on Monday September 12, as part of the 2022 VFL and VFLW Awards.
Minor premier Casey Demons have four players named in the squad, along with the Box Hill Hawks and Werribee.
The full list of club representation was – Box Hill Hawks (four), Brisbane Lions (two), Carlton (three), Casey Demons (four), Coburg (one), Collingwood (two), Essendon (nil), Footscray (one), Frankston (two), Geelong Cats (nil), Gold Coast Suns (two), GWS Giants (nil), North Melbourne (one), Northern Bullants (one), Port Melbourne (three), Richmond (one), Sandringham (one), Southport Sharks (three), Sydney Swans (three), Werribee (four) and Williamstown (two).
In 2022, AFL-listed players are eligible for selection in the Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year.
