MELBOURNE’S Angus Brayshaw knows his team has work to do.

Speaking to SEN’s Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning, the star Demon explained that while there are obvious areas of improvement following a 10-point loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday, his team was embracing the opportunity for growth.

“We’re close to putting it together and obviously there’s a lot of work to do,” Brayshaw said.

“We’re not shying away from that at all, we’re keen to do it, we’re keen to be a great team.

“It’s really hard to win games of football and Goody always preaches to us that you always have to respect the game, respect your opponent and nothing is given to you, you have to earn it.

“So, we know that teams aren’t going to just roll over for us, we’ve got to actually play the right way.”

The Demons have a tough run home facing Fremantle, Collingwood, Carlton and Brisbane in the remaining home-and-away games, with all four teams sitting inside the top eight.

This may seem like a daunting feat as the competition heads towards finals football, but Brayshaw has faith that his team will relish the chance to face some of the best in the league.

“Our team, no matter who’s playing, knows our brand and we just haven’t been executing,” Brayshaw said.

“But we’re really keen to right that and we’ve got a great opportunity against some of the best, in-form teams in the competition to really test ourselves and perform.

“And we can do it.”

While a snapshot of the next four weeks is the overarching challenge for the Demons, their narrow focus is now on Round 20, as they prepare to travel to Optus Stadium and face the Dockers on Friday night.

“They’ve got a really good, talented group,” Brayshaw said.

“They’ve beaten us once already this year, so we know that if we go over there and we’re not 100% or we’re not playing the way we train, then we’re going to lose.

“It’ll be a finals-like intensity because they’ve got a lot to play for as well, so it’ll be a really good test.”
