WHEN Meryl Archibald attended Melbourne’s clash against Richmond in Round 20, she didn’t expect to be leaving the MCG as the winner of a brand-new car.

Archibald, who was randomly selected in the crowd after waving her promotional poster, was the lucky recipient of a Jaguar E-PACE, valued at $69,990.

And having needed an update, the schoolteacher was overjoyed to receive the incredible prize.

“It means so much to me, as I’ve been asking my husband for a car all year,” Archibald told Melbourne Media.

“It’s a long drive to work in the car every day and in the summer, when my car’s air conditioner wasn’t working, I was really hot.

“I was complaining to my kids at school and they even wrote me letters from my car; they wrote letters to my husband convincing him to let me have one, so it means a lot.”

Having attended the game with her sister, Archibald has fond memories of the moment she was spotted in the stands.

“We saw the camera on us, and my sister started wrestling me telling me that ‘I’m the winner, I’m the winner’ and I was like ‘no, it’s me’, so we were kind of wrestling each other on the screen there for a while,” she said.

“When the person turned up behind me to shake my hand, it kind of sunk in that I had just won a car.”

Archibald headed down to Jaguar Brighton this week to collect her prize and was all smiles to receive the keys from Demons co-captain, Jack Viney.

“I’d just really like to thank Jaguar and Jaguar Brighton for supporting the Melbourne Football Club, and for giving me this very beautiful car,” she said.
