SATURDAY night will see Melbourne’s AFLW side travel to VU Whitten Oval in a blockbuster clash against the Western Bulldogs.

The game will mark the beginning of the Dees’ 2022 campaign where they will look to go further in their quest for premiership glory after a disappointing preliminary final loss in 2021.

Preparations for the upcoming season started back in 2021 with Melbourne forward Jackie Parry excited to finally get the season underway.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Parry told Melbourne Media.

“With covid last year, we started the off-season pretty early and we had a massive turn out from the girls.

“It feels like we’ve been in pre-season for six, seven months, so we’re pretty keen to have a different opposition.”

As the side looks ahead to Saturday’s game, their hunger for a first-round win is even greater after a 13-point loss to the Dogs back in 2021.

With a strong pre-season that saw them secure a practice-match win against Collingwood, Parry said the Demons' key to toppling over their traditional rivals on the weekend would be sticking to what they know and playing to their full ability.

“We just want to put everything together that we’ve worked on in pre-season,” Parry said.

“I think we’re pretty keen to compete. They’ve got a pretty good contest method and they’re a strong midfield, so I think it’ll just be bringing our best game.

“We know what we’re capable of, so I’m just really excited to see it all come together.”

Purchasing tickets ahead of Saturday’s game is imperative with none available at the gate on game day. You can find tickets for the clash here.
