ACCORDING to the coaches, there were three standout players at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night: Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Tom McDonald.

The Melbourne trio featured heavily in the AFLCA MVP voting for Round 17, with Oliver’s eight votes helping him surpass Marcus Bontempelli and sit on top of the league leaderboard.

Simon Goodwin and Ken Hinkley were in agreeance that Petracca (33 disposals and three goals) was best afield, while McDonald earned six votes for his three-goal haul.

Two votes went the way of Steven May, who was recognised for his efforts to restrict Charlie Dixon’s influence, and skipper Max Gawn, who had 31 hit-outs and 18 disposals.

Rounding out the votes with one apiece were Kysaiah Pickett (three goals) and Christian Salem (26 disposals).
