MELBOURNE will be wearing black armbands in Round 17, honouring former president Wayne Reid, who sadly passed away, aged 83.

Reid, who led the Demons in 1979 and 1980, was also a former president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia, the Confederation of Australian Sport, and the International Assembly of National Organisations of Sport.

He was the Founding Director of the Australian Institute of Sport and was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1989.

The Melbourne Football Club sends its deepest sympathies to Reid's family and friends during this sad time.
