MELBOURNE has made no change to the starting 22 ahead of its Round 16 match against the GWS Giants on Saturday afternoon.

The Demons have opted to stick with the same structure as last weekend, which resulted in their 12th win of the season, with only a forced changed to the emergency list.

Utility Nathan Jones, who was listed as the AFL Medi-sub (unused) against Essendon, has suffered a minor calf strain and will miss this week’s match.

Jones left the track early during Wednesday’s main training session at Casey Fields, with scans later confirming a small strain.

“This is unfortunate timing for Nathan, given he has been able to perform at a high level consistently for the past month in the VFL,” General Manager AFL Performance Alan Richardson told Melbourne Media.

“We will closely monitor Nathan over the next week, with his return to play timeline determined by how he responds to treatment and his ability to increase training loads.”

In a standout performance, Jones gathered 36 disposals, 11 clearances and kicked one goal in Casey’s 48-point win over Essendon’s VFL team at Casey Fields on Sunday.

Aaron vandenBerg, who managed 28 disposals of his own for Casey, has been listed as an emergency, while Jake Bowey, Kade Chandler and Ben Brown round out this week’s list.

Up to 25,000 people will be permitted to attend the MCG for Saturday’s game, with limited tickets still available. You can purchase your tickets via Ticketek.
