IN THE AFTERMATH of Melbourne’s 26-point win over the Blues, Simon Goodwin, Max Gawn and Christian Salem addressed the media.

Recap what they had to say below:

Simon Goodwin – Media Conference

On the defensive effort against Carlton:

“We knew the challenge coming in, that they’re a very strong offensive team.

“They kick 100 (points) most weeks, but our ability to defend – we thought it would be a strength v strength game, and that’s what it turned out to be.

“And that’s the real pleasing thing for us.

“We rock up and we get the game looking the way we want it most weeks.

“Sometimes it takes a little bit longer than others, like today, but we got there in the end and we kept them to a pretty low score.”

Max Gawn – 3AW

On the nine-game win streak:

“We’ve been challenged in every single one of our games, and you can’t underestimate just coming in, week in and week out, and performing and winning.

“I’ve been involved in good teams where it’s hard to string games together.

“In 2018 we managed five and that was talked about as one of the better runs going around.

“We’ve managed nine this time around, including the two last year, and it’s a good little streak.

“It’s a good maturity about the group, but Adelaide next week and then on to a couple of Friday night blockbusters.”

Christian Salem – Melbourne Media

On the room for growth:

“To be honest, I don’t feel like we’re playing our best football.

“There’s still little areas of our game that we want to improve.

“But the thing is, we’re winning [while] not playing our best, so that’s definitely a positive.

“We just shift our focus to Adelaide next week – they’re in some good form.”
