TWO DEMONS have been struck down by injury in recent days, with Bailey Laurie and Joel Smith set to miss six to eight weeks each.

Laurie, who was drafted to the club with pick No.22 last year, fractured his eye socket at training last Thursday after copping an accidental elbow from Michael Hibberd.

Smith’s injury came in Casey’s Round 1 VFL clash on Saturday, where he damaged the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his knee.

The news is more promising for James Harmes (wrist), who is an outside chance to be available for selection come Round 7, but Performance Manager Darren Burgess said the following week appears more probable.

As for Steven May (head) and Bayley Fritsch (hand), the club is yet to confirm whether they will be available for Saturday night’s clash with Richmond.

The key duo missed last week’s win over the Hawks with respective injuries, but their rehab process is right on track.

May has overcome all concussion concerns, but will need to complete Wednesday’s main training to prove his fitness after also fracturing his right eye socket against Geelong.

Fritsch’s return will be dependent on a meeting with his hand specialist, which at this stage is scheduled for Friday.
