AFTER a 4-0 start to 2021, some people are beginning to believe this Melbourne line-up is ready for success; Mark Williams is one of them.

The Dees’ new development coach is loving what he sees, and implores fans to get behind their side this season.

“I got great joy walking off the field after the game and looking to the members and seeing how happy they were,” told SEN Breakfast.

“The faces, the smiles, and just thinking about how many more people are out there.

“I can remember the great times at Melbourne-Collingwood games how the grand stands would be full.

“I just know they’re sitting there waiting to see, but we need them to sign up and jump on and really enjoy the ride as it’s coming along, because a lot of exciting times are coming ahead very, very soon.”

There’s no doubt Williams has played a major role in the Dees’ early-season success, but it’s his raw passion for the club which may be most impressive.

It’s a wonderful place, a great coaching group, a great group of players and [I’m] really loving every minute of it

Having spent time at Port Adelaide, GWS and Richmond, Williams brings a wealth of knowledge to the club, as well as an understanding of what it takes to achieve the ultimate.

And he has no doubt Simon Goodwin is the man to deliver that for the Demons.

“Goody’s such an open and easy to talk to coach who just soaks up information,” Williams said.

“[He] wants to chat about what you might do … some senior coaching talk.

“Between Richo (Alan Richardson), Goody and I, we can always help each other and reflect on things that have worked in the past.

“Having people that are open to suggestion is just a great environment to work in and one I’m really enjoying.”
