IN: Ben Brown, 2020 Pick No.28, 2021 Fourth Round

OUT: 2020 Pick No.26, 2020 Pick No.33, 2021 Fourth Round Pick (tied to Brisbane)

KEY FORWARD Ben Brown has joined the Demons via a trade with North Melbourne on Thursday afternoon

The 27-year old’s move to Melbourne came along with pick No.28 and North Melbourne’s Future Fourth Round selection.

In return, the Demons passed on pick No.26, pick No.33 and a Future Fourth Round selection (tied to Brisbane) to the Kangaroos.

The addition of Brown will be a bonus for his new side, having kicked in excess of 60 goals in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

GM of Football Josh Mahoney said the 200cm forward will be a welcome inclusion inside 50 come 2021.

“We are excited to have Ben join us,” Mahoney told Melbourne Media.

“He is a proven goal kicker and we think he is the perfect type of player to work alongside our other forwards with his height, football smarts and experience.

“We were impressed during this process by Ben’s determination to succeed and also his excitement about joining Melbourne and being part of our club.”

The 2020 AFL season saw Brown manage just nine games for North Melbourne due to a persistent knee injury, which required minor surgery and ruled him out of the backend of the year.

Originally from Hobart, Tasmania, Brown was recruited to the Kangas with pick No.47 in the 2013 National Draft.
