THE DEMONS have made their way to Queensland, arriving on Tuesday for their pre-season training camp.

Players and staff flew into Maroochydore for the week-long stay, in what is the club’s fifth trip to the Sunshine Coast.

While the training camp is familiar to many, it is a new experience for recruit Adam Tomlinson, who joined Melbourne during last year’s Trade Period.

And with plenty of action on the agenda, the 26-year-old is eager to get stuck into it.

“I can’t imagine they’re going to bring us up here and have a nice, easy week on the track,” Tomlinson said.

“At the same time, there’s enough spare time that we can have a bit of fun.

“A lot of the boys like getting out of Melbourne and being near the beach – we’re staying 50m from one and it’s the first thing Corey Wagner, Ed Langdon and myself did; we went for a swim at the beach.

“I’m very much looking forward to a big week here.”

Arriving after lunch, the players’ first day included a quick gym session before heading to the beach for recovery.

They’ll hit the track for the first of their main sessions on Wednesday, before ramping up their training for the rest of the week.

And Tomlinson, who returned to the main group on Monday, is looking forward to making the most of his trip, injury free.

“I think I’ve timed it pretty well – I’m now back in the main group ready for a big week up here,” he said.

“It is what it is – you can’t do much about it. I’m just glad to be back up and running 100% now.

“I’m a pretty fit person, so [I’ll] just get a bit of time on the track and a ball in hand, and I’ll be right.”

The Demons will hold an Open Training session for Queensland-based fans on Sunday 2 February at Maroochydore Multi-Sports Complex. Click here for more information.
