SECOND-gamer Alex Neal-Bullen says his three goal performance against Geelong was the “cherry on top” to an amazing day.

The effervescent youngster was blown away by being part of Melbourne’s 24-point win over Geelong at the Cattery on Sunday, and said it was the highlight of 19 years so far.

“It was definitely the best day of my life, so far,” he told Dee TV.

“To think that we could’ve done it together – let alone get a win – we’re over the moon.

“I can’t believe it and it’s an unreal feeling.”

The South Australian, who was selected at No.40 in last year’s NAB AFL Draft, said his three goals, which included two in the first quarter, was a bonus to playing in the win.

“I see that as the cherry on top really,” he said.

“I really worked on my running patterns, and lengthening and stretching the ground, as we call it in footy terms, so I was just happy playing my role for the team, as they say in footy cliché.

“That was my main focus. To then kick three goals was the cherry on top – that was the bonus … so it was great.”

Neal-Bullen was adamant Melbourne could win, when trekking down the highway.

“We really came down here confidently … and I ran out there thinking we could win,” he said.

“We knew it was going to be hard and we wanted to dictate what they do – we didn’t want to just come down here to play and show up.

“We really came to put a four quarter effort in and I think that’s what we did.”

To cap off the day, Neal-Bullen played with one of his closest mates: Billy Stretch.

“You wonder who writes the script,” he said.

“We played together at Glenelg last year.

“To then end up at the same club and debut when [Stretch is playing as well], and then to play in our first win together – I would never have thought this would happen.”
