MELBOURNE defender Sam Frost is set to be omitted for the Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond.

AFL.com.au understands the tall defender has lost his place in the side, with Frost spotted doing a tough running session with teammate Joel Smith at Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning.

There will be at least three changes to the side when it is officially named on Monday evening, with Jordan Lewis (broken hand) and Tomas Bugg (VFL) also set to miss.

"There'll be a couple of changes so we'll finalise that later today," coach Simon Goodwin said.

"We held five guys over from the VFL yesterday, so we'll certainly make some changes but at the same time we feel like we've got a good squad ready to play some good footy."

In good news for the Demons, Dom Tyson, who missed last weekend's 67-point loss against Hawthorn through illness, is available for selection, while Neville Jetta (ankle) should also be right to play.

Frost spent a fair amount of time in the rehab group at the start of Saturday's main training session.

He was brought back into the team in round three against North Melbourne and retained his spot for the following week's clash against Hawthorn.

Goodwin said he was confident Jayden Hunt was close to rediscovering his best form after a two-week stint in the VFL, with the speedy defender on the cusp of selection.

"He's been really strong at VFL level. His contest work and his ability to run from half-back is significant in the VFL," Goodwin said.

"He's someone who's right in our mix and he's going to come in and provide that for the team.

"He had a difficult summer for a whole range of different reasons, but we feel he's edging closer to his best footy again."

Harley Balic, Tim Smith, Billy Stretch and Sam Weideman are all a chance to play against the Tigers after being held out of Casey's match on Sunday.

Bugg suffered a leg injury in the second term of the match against Richmond's VFL side and did not return to the field.

Cameron Pedersen booted five goals in the VFL on Sunday but won't be picked to play the Tigers.
