MELBOURNE has appointed Daniel Jones as its new High Performance Manager, bringing more than 15 years of experience across elite sporting environments in both Australia and the United States.
Jones joins the Demons most recently from the Geelong Football Club, where he has spent the past four seasons working as the Lead Athletic Performance and Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Melbourne Chief of Football Ned Guy said the club was thrilled to secure someone of Jones' experience and expertise.
"Daniel brings an outstanding combination of AFL and international experience, having worked in some of the world's most demanding high-performance environments," Guy said.
"Throughout the recruitment process, we were incredibly impressed by his knowledge, leadership and understanding of what it takes to lead a high-performing program.
"We're confident Daniel will have a significant impact on our players and staff, and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the club."
Prior to his time at Geelong, Jones spent almost four years in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets, where he held the position of Head of Strength and Conditioning, overseeing the physical preparation and development of the playing roster.
He also brings extensive AFL experience, having previously spent six years at North Melbourne Football Club in a range of high performance and rehabilitation roles.
Jones holds a Master of Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) from Edith Cowan University and a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Ballarat.
