PAXY Paxman has been a part of Melbourne’s football history from as early as 2016, before the AFLW competition had even officially started.

She pulled on the red and blue in the All Stars match, just a few weeks before formally becoming a Demon, signing on as a priority player prior to the first season of AFLW.

Since then, she’s played a key role in Melbourne’s AFLW side across 10 years, 11 seasons and 99 games. The icon with the mullet, Paxman embodies what it truly means to be a Demon.

She’ll notch up her 100th game this Sunday, becoming just the second player in the club’s history to do so, following Kate Hore’s milestone last weekend.

As someone so influential to the history of the club and competition, we’re taking a look at the moments that led to Paxman’s milestone.

2016 | All Stars match
After playing for the Western Bulldogs in the early women's exhibition matches, Paxman made the move to the red and blue for the All Stars game in 2016.

She made sure to make the most of her first outing in Demon colours, putting together a strong performance with a game-high 26 disposals.

2016 | Melbourne’s priority selection
Paxman’s impressive display in the 2016 All Stars match was rewarded with a priority selection for the inaugural AFLW season, signing with the Dees just a few weeks after the game.

She became a part of a handful of players that committed to teams early before the 2016 AFLW Draft, joining Melbourne alongside her friends Daisy Pearce and Mel Hickey.

2017 | AFLW debut
Paxman made her AFLW debut in Melbourne’s inaugural game, where the Dees hosted the Lions at Casey Fields in Round 1 of the 2017 season.

While it wasn’t a win for her first game, she quickly made sure that her talents were known among the competition, with 24 disposals and six clearances.

2021 | First Demon in history to receive five All Australian selections
Following the 2021 AFLW season, Paxman was named All Australian for the fifth time, becoming the first Demon to reach this feat across both AFL and AFLW.

Prior to 2021, she had been named All Australian in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 (captain).

2022 | Celebrated 50 games on the ‘G
Melbourne faced Brisbane in a historic preliminary final battle on the MCG. It was the first official AFLW game ever played on the hallowed turf and was also Paxman’s 50th AFLW game.

The Dees made Paxman’s milestone extra special with a grand final berth, defeating the Lions by four points.

2022 | Premiership player
During the second season of the 2022 year, the Demons made history, winning their inaugural AFLW premiership.

Paxman was part of a side that defeated the Lions by four points and was one of five inaugural Demons to become a premiership player after more than six years in the competition.

2024 | Melbourne Life Member
Paxman and fellow inaugural Demon Daisy Pearce were honoured with Melbourne Football Club Life Membership following the 2024 season.

It was a special moment for the pair, who were acknowledged for their significant contributions over their tenures.
