MELBOURNE young gun Molly O’Hehir has secured her future in the red and blue, signing a two-year contract extension that will see her remain a Demon until at least the end of 2028.
O’Hehir has played 19 games since making her AFLW debut in Round 1 of the 2025 season.
The 20-year-old Western Australian recruit is averaging career-high numbers in all aspects of her game and recently kicked her first AFLW goal in Melbourne’s Round 6 victory over Carlton.
Melbourne’s General Manager of AFLW Katrina Gill said the club was thrilled with O’Hehir’s commitment to the club.
“Molly is growing in front of our eyes and playing an important role for the team,” Gill said.
“Molly is working hard every day to get better and it’s pleasing to see her training form translate in games.”
O’Hehir’s best performance of the season came in Round 5 against West Coast, when she recorded 15-disposals and five tackles.
The second-year Demon has spent more time on a wing in 2026 after starting her AFLW career at half-back.
“Molly’s athleticism and versatility is a weapon for us. She has embraced the wing role where her run, contest and defensive pressure have been important,” Gill said.
“Molly has plenty of scope for development and we are excited to see how she can continue to improve and help us achieve success.”
Originally from South Fremantle, O’Hehir was selected with Pick 3 in the 2024 AFLW Telstra Draft after developing through the WAFLW system.
