“We are super excited to have Christian sign on for another year,” Lamb said.

“Christian is a premiership player and someone who is highly valued within our four walls.

“He’s had an interrupted season in 2026, but we have great belief in Christian’s ability to put in a strong pre-season and be a real asset for us in 2027.”

Salem is entering his 14th season at AFL level and has played 208 games for the Demons since making his debut in 2014.

A key member of Melbourne’s 2021 premiership side, Salem is known for his composed ball use and classy left foot.

The 31-year-old was awarded Melbourne Football Club life membership in 2024, recognising his long-standing contribution and commitment to the red and blue.

After an interrupted 2026 season due to a foot injury and thyroid issue, Salem will turn his attention to preparing for the 2027 campaign.

Originally selected with Pick No. 9 in the 2013 National Draft from the Hampton Rovers, Salem has established himself as one of Melbourne’s most experienced players across his 13 seasons at the club.
