MELBOURNE’S Koltyn Tholstrup has secured his future, signing a three-year extension that will see him remain a Demon until at least the end of 2031.

Already contracted until 2028, Tholstrup has flourished under the new leadership of Steven King, taking on the task of matching up against some of the competition’s best small forwards.

Melbourne’s AFL List Manager Tim Lamb said the extension was a testament to Tholstrup’s work rate and performance over the last year, as well as his infectious energy around the club.

“Koltyn’s growth this season has been impressive to watch,” Lamb said.

“Not only does he live our club values every day, but he also has a team-first mentality that doesn’t go unnoticed.

“Koltyn is a key player in our future, and we have great belief in what he can continue to bring to our program on and off the field.”

The 21-year-old has played every game of Melbourne’s 2026 campaign and recorded career-best numbers, including a 26-disposal performance in the Demons Round 6 victory over back-to-back premiers, the Brisbane Lions.

Originally selected with Pick 13 in the 2023 National Draft, Tholstrup was recruited from Newtown-Condingup Football Club in Esperance, Western Australia, before developing through Subiaco in the WAFL.
