MELBOURNE midfielder Eliza McNamara has put pen to paper and extended her contract, committing to the Demons through until the end of 2028.

Entering her fifth season, the 24-year-old has established herself as one of the competition's best endurance runners. She earned AFLPA 22Under22 selection in both 2023 and 2024, received a Rising Star nomination in 2021 and most recently finished third in Melbourne's 2025 Best and Fairest.

Melbourne AFLW General Manager Katrina Gill said McNamara's new deal reflected the professionalism and leadership she brings to the club.

"Eliza had a career-best year in 2025 and sets a high standard for herself and teammates through her hard work and professionalism," Gill said.

"Eliza is a leader who cares deeply about others and is invested in our Club's success on and off the field.

"We are rapt Eliza has signed on for another two seasons and wants to be part of this exciting new chapter under Senior Coach Tom Wilson."

McNamara's leadership has continued to grow throughout her career, with the midfielder voted into Melbourne's 2026 leadership group after serving as an emerging leader during the 2025 campaign.

The winger’s journey has also been one of resilience. After suffering a broken back in 2022 that sidelined her for 12 months, McNamara worked tirelessly to return to the field and produced the best football of her career in 2025.

Selected by Melbourne with Pick No.15 in the 2020 NAB AFLW National Draft, McNamara made her debut in Round 1 of the 2021 season and has since played 59 games in the red and blue.
