DECKED out in red and blue guernseys, provided by the Melbourne Football Club, Nyirripi’s women’s football team has competed in the Remote Central Australia Football Youth Women’s School Holiday Competition.
Nyirripi is a small Northern Territory town, 440kms out of Alice Springs, and has a strong relationship with the Melbourne Football Club, the two having remained connected since 2014, coming together through their love of football and the Demons.
During the club’s visit to the community in February, the women’s team were given a suite of Dees guernseys to pull on for football games going forward.
The red and blue jumpers have allowed the team, proudly known as the Nyirripi Demons, to participate in footy matches and tournaments wearing a uniform, further encouraging participation in the sport.
The Remote Central Australia Football Youth Women’s School Holiday Competition takes place every Wednesday during school holidays in Yuendumu, with Nyirripi competing against Mount Allan, Yuendumu, and Willowra.
