IN FRONT of almost 90,000 fans at the MCG, Melbourne's final quarter heroics have sealed an eight-point win over Collingwood.
Speaking to his side's ability to embrace the pressure, Steven King commended the Dees' impact in the dying moments of the game.
“It’s a finals like atmosphere, finals like occasion, finals like contest,” King said.
“It certainly wasn’t the prettiest game of footy, but I thought when the game was on the line, we were able to go to another level.
“Collingwood are a bloody good team and club and have a lot of experience in those big moments, so to see our boys keep chipping away and own moments late in the game, it was really encouraging.”
When discussing the decisions made in the final moments of the match, King left the praise to the players, highlighting their never-give-up attitude.
“In the end, you’ve just got to trust your players to get it done,” King said.
“I think that’s been the real growth of this group, for us not to give up and continue to fight in every game we play and to understand what needs to be done at the right time.
“They pretty much coached themselves through it and got it done, that was pleasing to see.”
Young Demon Harvey Langford was one of many players celebrated for their memorable moments throughout the important win, the 19-year-old finishing with 26 disposals, six marks, four tackles and a goal.
“For a second-year player, he has his [big] moments,” King said.
“He didn’t get drafted as a winger, but that’s the role he’s playing for us and he’s doing a great job at it.
“He’s a pretty special player, he’s continued to evolve his game, is open to feedback and gets to work on it.”
