IT WAS the match marketed as a battle between two superstar small forwards, Kysaiah Pickett pitted against Hawthorn's Nick Watson.

In reality it was a quiet afternoon at the footy for the pair, as close checking from both sides held the talented duo to just thirteen disposals for Pickett and nine for Watson.

Pickett was shadowed by Hawthorn's Finn Maginness while Koltyn Tholstrup gave Watson plenty to think about.

While the duo managed to hit the scoreboard with two majors for Pickett and three for Watson, it was a fourth quarter tackle that decided the battle. 

Pickett drifted deep into defence and his eyes lit up when he saw Watson collect the ball.
