NARRM coach Steven King caught up with the Media to preview a blockbuster Saturday afternoon clash with Hawthorn at the MCG.

HAWTHORN CHALLENGE

“I think everyone will be really excited about that game and we can’t wait to get into that one,” King said.

“They play a really good brand of footy, they’ve got talent everywhere and we’re going to have to be at our best.

“That’s a great opportunity for our players, another benchmark game for us to see where we’re at.

“I feel like both teams can score heavily when they want to, so we’ll be going at the game attacking it pretty hard as well.”

“We’d love to get as many Melbourne people there as possible and put on another good show.”

SOLID START

“I’m really proud of our players for the way they’ve played with that sort of freedom in their game,” King said.

“When you try to implement some change in the way the club plays and ask your players to play a bit differently, you never quite know how it’s going to go.

“I still feel like we’re adding layers to our game all the time, so we’re still evolving.”

“To be six and three and still be relatively young is a really good thing for us for the now and for the future.”

VINEY UPDATE

“He’s been awesome,” King said.

“Obviously frustrating for him with his injuries, but he is on track.

“What he does during the week, the way he sits in the box with us next to Nathan Jones, he travels with the team and helps all our young mids week to week.

“His influence has been massive off the field.”

“You’d love your vice-captain and a player as competitive as Jack to be out there. So, hopefully things run smoothly for him in the back half, and we can get his competitiveness around the ball later in the year.”

MIHOCEK UPDATE

“Checkers is going well,” King said.

“He’s on track and hopefully we’ll get him back in another week or two. He’s been up and running now for a few days, which is great.

“We’d love to have him out there, obviously, but it gives an opportunity for someone else to step up and that’s something we’ve done really well all year.”
