Wherever they want me to play, I’m happy.

BAYLEY Fritsch is 38 games into his AFL career, but is yet to settle in one position on the field.

The 22-year-old was drafted to the club as a mature-age recruit from the VFL at the end of the 2017 season and has looked at home at the top level since debuting in Round 1 last season.

But after making a name for himself as a forward at the Casey Demons, Fritsch has been a floater in Melbourne’s senior side.

“I started off the year in the backline because of injuries, but I’ve moved up to the wing in the last few weeks which has been really good,” Fritsch said on RSN radio earlier in the week.

“I finished off the game [against Carlton] in the backline as Marty Hore went down, but wherever they want me to play, I’m happy.”

Fritsch has been a consistent contributer for the Dees this season, predominantly playing off half-back, but with a versatile skillset, he is regularly thrown around to fill a void for his side.

While Fritsch isn’t too fazed with where he is required to play, he sees his best football coming up the ground in the near future.

“I think probably the wing role, helping out defence, but then going forward as well,” he said.

“Potentially half-back in the future, but I did most of the pre-season on the wing, so I think that’s probably my spot for now.”

The classy left footer has played every game for the red and blue in 2019, and despite a challenging year on-field, he says there’s still a lot to play for in the backend of the season.

“It’s probably just building good habits and getting momentum, and trying to build that winning culture again to take that into the pre-season,” Fritsch said.

Melbourne will be looking to win a second game in a row when it takes on the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
