UTILITY Cat Phillips has departed Melbourne, signing with expansion club St Kilda on the last day of the AFLW Sign and Trade period.

Phillips’ move was finalised just prior to the 2pm deadline, with the 27-year-old opting to join the Saints for their inaugural season.

“It’s disappointing to see Cat go, but it’s a good opportunity for her so we respect that decision,” AFLW List Manager Todd Patterson told Melbourne Media.

“Cat has been a great member of the Melbourne Football Club since the beginning of the competition, so we wish her all the best for the next chapter of her career.”

Phillips played all seven games for the Demons in 2019 and has been a valuable member of the side over the past three years.

The Demons have already locked in 20 of their players from last season, with the first of two trade periods closing on Thursday afternoon.
