LAST NIGHT, Melbourne completed its AFLW list for the 2026 season, drafting Lauren Clifton at the Pre-Season Draft. 

After Clifton's name was called out over the draft broadcast, senior coach Tom Wilson and GM of AFLW Kat Gill called the new Demon to welcome her to the club. 

"My whole family screamed [when my name was called out]," Clifton said. 

I was outside making pizzas because I didn't want to be inside with everyone, I was too nervous.

"I can't wait to be over there and to see you guys, I'm so grateful for the opportunity." 

Wilson wrapped up the call, formally welcoming her to his team ahead of the start of pre-season next week. 

"Congratulations, Lauren," Wilson said. 

"Enjoy this moment with your family and we can't wait to get you inside the four walls where you're officially a Demon footballer."
