MELBOURNE coach Steven King has shared insight into livewire forward Kysaiah Pickett's rise as a dominant midfielder and his willingness to do what it takes to become the best.

King joined AFL360 to share some insight into the rapidly rising Demon.

"He's got that inner drive where he wants to be a full-time mid, he wants to be the best in the game, not only in his position, but he wants to do it all," King said.

"And you see that with the way he trains and yeah, he's competitive.

"It was about after round two, we got touched off by Fremantle, and he was a bit frustrated being forward a little bit.

"He sat down with Nathan Jones and myself and said, "I wanna play a bit more inside." And Nathan's really firm with him around the requirements if you wanna be a full-time mid, what's required and Kozzy's met us halfway with that."
