HARVEY Langford and Xavier Lindsay were both acknowledged for their standout debut seasons on Brownlow Medal night, with Langford securing a top-four finish and the pair featuring among the 2025 Telstra AFL Rising Star nominees.

Langford, taken with Pick 6 in last year’s draft, played 22 games in his first season and averaged 18 disposals, nine kicks, eight handballs and three marks. His Rising Star nomination came in Round 3 after an impressive performance against Gold Coast, where he amassed 26 disposals, 15 contested possessions, 10 score involvements, six clearances and a goal. He capped off his campaign by finishing fourth in the overall count.

Lindsay, selected at Pick 11, also impressed in his debut year, pulling on the red and blue 18 times and averaging 14 disposals, seven kicks, six handballs and three marks per game. His nomination came in Round 7 following a standout Anzac Day Eve display against Richmond, where he tallied 21 touches, 11 marks and five score involvements.

Between them, Langford and Lindsay combined for 40 senior appearances, underlining their readiness to contribute at AFL level and giving Melbourne plenty of optimism for the future.
