Casey Demons stars Riley Bonner and Mitch Hardie have been recognised among the VFL’s finest, both earning selection in the 2025 Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year at the VFL and VFLW Awards.

Bonner was named at half-back after an outstanding debut season with the Demons, averaging 30 disposals and six marks per game. His consistency and composure across half-back made him one of the league’s most reliable performers. His stellar year was further highlighted by finishing runner-up in the prestigious J.J. Liston Trophy, polling 23 votes to underline his standing as one of the competition’s elite players.

Joining him in the Team of the Year is Mitch Hardie, who was rewarded for his impact as a damaging half-forward. Hardie averaged 25 disposals, four tackles, and more than a goal a game, showcasing his ability to influence contests both through the midfield and on the scoreboard. His versatility and work rate were key features of Casey’s season.

The double selection reflects the strength and depth of the Demons’ 2025 campaign and highlights the influence of both players in driving the team forward.
