Melbourne AFL Backline Coach Nathan Bassett will depart the club, having made the decision to return home to South Australia.

Bassett joined the Demons late last year to oversee the Demons’ defence, following 10 seasons of coaching in different roles across the league.

General Manager of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson thanked Bassett for his contribution over the last 12 months.

“Nathan has been a great addition to our program this past season, bringing different perspectives and ideas to our coaching panel,” Richardson said.

“He has built some great relationships with our players throughout this time, and while we’ll miss having him at the club, we fully support his decision to return home for family reasons.

“We wish Nathan, his wife Nicole and their children Charlotte and Will all the best for the future.”
