The Casey Demons VFLW side wrapped up a challenging season in 2025, finishing with two wins but showing plenty of growth and resilience along the way. Despite some close losses, the group continued to develop throughout the year and laid strong foundations for the future.

Head Coach Matt Brewer reflected on the journey, acknowledging the ups and downs.
“To summarise our season is hard. I would say a lot of frustration but a lot of learnings as well,” Brewer said. “We had a lot of turnover with players and lost a bit of experience which in women’s is not easy to replace. But in saying that, it gave a lot of our younger players the experience to play VFLW footy which in time will benefit our young group.”

That exposure to senior football has been invaluable for the club’s emerging talent.
“Now that our younger group has played 14 games, they know what it takes to play the second-best standard of women’s football in Australia — and that also goes for pre-season and training standards.”

While the scoreboard didn’t always reflect the team’s efforts, there were highlights that stood out. One that Brewer will remember fondly was the win over Geelong.
“The highlight for me was definitely our pre-season camp and our win against Geelong. The team had been so close on a lot of occasions during the year, and putting it all together and playing for four quarters just showed the capabilities of this young, talented group.”

Looking ahead, there’s plenty of reason for excitement as the Demons prepare for 2026.
“There should be great excitement coming back to training in November with a good mix of experience and young talent, and a game style that will suit the players we have and the new players that will come in,” Brewer said. “Hopefully we can have another great camp where we can connect and create some amazing friendships for 2026.”

Though 2025 may not have delivered the results the Demons were chasing, the season laid the groundwork for the club’s next chapter — one built on resilience, growth, and the promise of a bright future.
