MELBOURNE’S Tahlia Gillard is in the final stages of rehabbing a knee injury.
Gillard sustained an MCL tear during the side’s practice match at the end of July, with the club’s AFLW High Performance Manager Josh Keily providing an update on the defender.
“Tahlia has a couple of things to tick off this week, such as change of direction and jump testing,” Keily said.
“She’ll then get integrate into some full training next week.”
Similarly, Sinead Goldrick is progressing well through a shoulder injury sustained two weeks ago.
“Sinead needs to work through some more shoulder strength this week,” Keily said.
“Then we’ll look to integrate her into main training and see how she goes from there.”
Denby Taylor continues to build up her capacity after managing bone stress in her foot.
“Denby has had two solid weeks on the training track,” Keily said.
“She’ll continue to build her running and high-speed volumes.”
After injuring her calf prior to Round 2, Sarah Lampard is eyeing off a return to running this week.
“We’ve let Sarah’s calf injury settle, which has been good,” Keily said.
“Her big focuses at the moment are plyometrics and run-tech and then we’ll look to get some running in towards the backend of the week.”
Grace Beasley, who ruptured her ACL last season, is nearing the final two months of her long rehab journey.
“Grace still has a couple of things to tick off with her strength and power,” Keily said.
“She continues to build her integration into training drills and her capacity on-field. We’ll start getting her more involved in main training over the next couple of weeks.”
Blaithin Mackin continues to progress through her rehab following an MCL injury sustained during Round 2.
“Blaithin will run on the AlterG (Anti-Gravity Treadmill) tomorrow,” Keily said.
“We’ll then have a follow-up appointment with the surgeon this week in the hopes to get the all-clear for further progress her running.”
Jacinta Hose (back) and Olivia Purcell (ACL) continue to work through their long-term rehab programs.
Maeve Chaplin spent time on the bench during last Saturday’s match against Richmond due to an injury concern, but has recovered well and will be available for selection in Round 5.
