Demons President Brad Green says incoming CEO Paul Guerra thrives on building connections and will be an accessible leader for the Demons Faithful.
Guerra steps into the position full time on Monday, having already got his feet under the desk with the club’s head coaching search.
“He embodies passion, he's got energy and we're really looking forward to him to start and our members will certainly hear a lot from Paul,” Green said.
“He said he loves to be out communicating with our members. We just can't wait for him to start.”
Green says Guerra’s leadership is typified by his ability to empower those he works alongside.
“When he got anointed as the next CEO, we went through a thorough process,” Green says.
“Paul’s a terrific leader. He leads his organisations really well.
“He empowers his executive team with fulfilment in the sense that he lets them go about their work and gets them to use their strengths.
“He's got passion to really drive our club forward to the future.”
Green confirmed he will be finishing up in his position as club president later this year.
“There's been talk that I'm staying on and I am staying on, but that's as a board member and director,” he said.
“When the AFLW season finishes I'll be stepping down and Steve Smith will be stepping into the chair.”
Green also thanked David Rennick for his service, with the long-standing director, 50-year member and Foundation Legend offering his resignation from the board after reaching his term limit.
“I just want to say thank you to David Rennick. His resignation was passed to me in the last month,” Green said.
“He's a director that's been committed to this football club. His ongoing support to myself as well as the other directors has been tremendous.”
We won't be putting a casual vacancy in place, but come the AGM, we have one director spot available, and we're looking forward to see who that is.”
