The Casey Demons produced a dominant four-quarter performance in Round 9, cruising to a commanding 71-point victory over the Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval.
From the outset, Casey showcased their intent, slamming home five goals in the opening quarter while holding the Bullants goalless. The Demons’ relentless pressure and hunger for the ball was evident, locking the game inside their forward half and giving the Bullants little time or space to settle into the contest.
The Demons were clinical around the contest, with their midfield dictating play and their forwards taking full advantage of scoring opportunities. By halftime, Casey had built a 55-point lead, thanks to a well-structured team performance and aggressive ball movement.
The third quarter saw more of the same as the Demons extended their lead, kicking five goals to none and completely shutting down any hope of a Bullants fightback. Although the visitors managed six final-quarter goals, the game was well out of reach, and Casey closed it out in style to claim a 17.19 (121) to 7.8 (50) win.
Matthew Jefferson starred up forward with a five-goal haul, while Tom Fullarton (3), Jacob Van Rooyen and Bailey Laurie (2 each) also hit the scoreboard. A further spread of contributors including Taj Woewodin, Tyson Sruk, Jack Henderson, Jack Billings, and Tom Campbell highlighted the team’s depth.
In the engine room, Riley Bonner led the way with 34 disposals, closely followed by Mitch Hardie (33), Billings (31), Laurie (27), and Blake Howes (25), each playing a crucial role in setting the tone for Casey's dominance.
