IN WHAT is known as a much-loved Sir Doug Nicholls Round tradition, Narrm has taken part in a cultural gift exchange with Brisbane on Sunday afternoon.

The two teams faced each other at the Gabba as part of the first round of the special two-week period honouring the culture and history of the league’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players.

Following a Welcome to Country from Jagera nation Elder and member of the Ngaran Goori traditional owner group, Louisa Bonner, Narrm gifted a hand-painted Sherrin to Brisbane created by Ricky Kildea from Marngrook Designs.

Ricky is a proud Dja Dja Wurrung man who has painted the football to pay respect to the Aboriginal footballers of the Narrm Football Club and acknowledge their individual journeys to get to the club.

Ricky also honours the club's deep respect for First Nations People and the positive impact it has made on many Aboriginal People, families and communities.

Brisbane gifted Narrm a carved boab nut created by Jacob Watson of the Nykina and Walmajarri Language Groups. Watson's carving designs focus on Barramundi, Emus, Brolgas, Bush Turkeys and Boab Tree landscapes.
