AFTER a week on the sidelines, Jake Melksham will be available for selection in Round 8.
Selwyn Griffith, the club’s AFL High Performance Manager, said the veteran forward had been training well and would be ready for the team’s match on Saturday.
“With the short turnaround from the Fremantle game into Richmond and with that cut on his leg, we made the decision to manage him to ensure that he had fully recovered,” Griffith said.
“He still trained last week and had a really good training session on the weekend as well and has integrated into full training this week.
“He'll be available for selection coming into this week's game.”
Daniel Turner will remain a test for Round 8 as he focuses on exiting the concussion protocols towards the backend of this week.
“Daniel's continued to progress through the concussion protocols really well,” Griffith said.
“He integrated into some modified training today and the next phase of his concussion protocol is to full train on Thursday, if he gets through that without any issues, then he'll be available for selection.”
In positive news for Marty Hore, who has been working through a long-term calf injury, the defender is closing in on his final weeks of rehab.
“Marty’s had a great couple of weeks and has now integrated into about 75% of training,” Griffith said.
“He'll complete a little bit of our main session with the plan for him to really ramp up his loads on the weekend and look to get back into full training next week and likely be available for the for the game the following week.”
Jake Lever has continued to hit positive markers in his return from an ankle injury that saw him undergo surgery three weeks ago.
“Jake came out of the boot and has been going really well,” Griffith said.
“In the initial phase, it was all around returning his ankle’s range of motion and his calf and ankle strength.
“He's done that really well today and progressed to running on the AlterG.
“We’ll assess how he recovers from that and then be guided for his on-ground running. He'll need to get a couple of weeks of conditioning under his belt before he is available for selection.”
