MELBOURNE has named an extended line-up for its season-opening clash against GWS on Sunday.

Within the 26-player squad, the Dees have named a mix of new recruits and young Demons meaning that, come Friday when the final team is confirmed, the club could see up to six debutants.

If selected, Matt Jefferson, Harvey Langford, Xavier Lindsay, Aidan Johnson and Jack Henderson would make their AFL debuts, while Harry Sharp would make his club debut having previously played 16 games for Brisbane.

The Dees are set to face the Giants on Sunday in the club’s inaugural Jim’s game, an Irish celebration to honour Melbourne legend Jim Stynes.

The match will see the players don special guernseys featuring green shamrocks, with all match-worn jumpers to be auctioned off to raise funds for the Jim Stynes Foundation.

Of the 26 players named, 23 will be confirmed in the final team to face the Giants tomorrow at 5pm (AEDT).

Dees fans can purchase tickets to the 3:20pm game here, or tune in to the match via the Seven Network, Fox Footy or Kayo Sports.
