AS part of a much-loved Sir Doug Nicholls Round tradition, Narrm has taken part in a cultural gift exchange with Euro-Yroke.

The two teams faced each other on Wurundjeri Country at the MCG on Sunday afternoon as part of the second round of the special two-week period honouring the culture and history of the league’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players.

Following a Welcome to Country from Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Di Kerr, Narrm gifted a Bangerang ceremonial red gum parry shield to Euro-Yroke,  crafted by artist Roland Atkinson.

Roland is a Ngarraga Berranga man from the Moiraduban/Walidhiga/Gaiyalduban/Narrandera tribe.

Within the design, linear diamond shapes symbolise ten family groups of the Bangerang Language/Nation, alongside two Bangerang moieties of wedge tail eagle and crow.
