MELBOURNE’S Tyla Hanks remains in the race for the AFLCA’s Champion Player Award after a dominant display in Round 8.

Hanks starred in the Demons’ 23-point win over North Melbourne showcasing her silky skills and strength through the contest, the performance earning her top votes from the coaches (10) and pushing her to sixth on the overall leaderboard.

The 23-year-old registered a game-high seven clearances alongside 26 disposals, eight tackles and one goal.

Another Demon to shine in the victory was young gun Tahlia Gillard who was rewarded with seven coaches votes.

Gillard was an imposing force in Melbourne’s backline, restricting North’s key forwards with a game-high 11 intercepts.

Olivia Purcell also received seven votes for her 28-disposal game, with the tenacious Demon playing a powerful role through stoppages. 

Shelley Heath was the remaining Demon to receive recognition from the coaches, polling one vote.
