MELBOURNE has made a change to its AFLW list, with Maggie Caris departing after three season at the club.

Caris, who joined the Demons during the 2020 AFLW Draft, has made the decision to step away from football, focusing more on her netball aspirations.

The 20-year-old made her senior debut in season six of the competition and went onto play a total of six games for the club.

AFLW list manager Todd Patterson thanked Caris for her time in the red and blue.

“Maggie has been juggling her elite netball commitments with AFLW throughout her career and given her representative duties, it has now become too difficult to give both sports the level of investment they require,” Patterson said.

“We have always had great confidence that, when required to play, Maggie was ready to go and was on a really nice trajectory with her development. However, we understand the opportunities she has with netball at the moment.

“We hope Maggie returns to football one day and wish her all the best with her netball pursuits.”

Caris was signed on as a training partner with the Melbourne Vixens last year, while she was also selected in the 21 and Under Australian squad.
