MELBOURNE Football Club has enjoyed a record-breaking year of memberships, with 66,484 Demon supporters signing on for the 2022 season.

With the membership sign-up period for both AFLW Season Six and the Men’s 2022 season officially closed, the final tally was announced on Wednesday morning and contributed to the AFL’s overall tally for the year.

Dees fans relished the opportunity to return to the MCG this season, with the club averaging an AFL home crowd of 46,000. This reached a crescendo in Round 21, when over 70,000 footy fans filled the stands for the Demons’ clash against Collingwood.

Melbourne CEO Gary Pert said the club was excited by the passion and support shown by the Demon faithful throughout 2022.

“This year has seen our fans throw their wholehearted support behind the club and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members for their continued loyalty,” Pert told Melbourne Media.

“After a number of seasons spent apart, the coaches and players have cherished playing in front of a sea of red and blue and reconnecting with members and supporters.

“This weekend will be no different, and we can’t wait to see all of our fans take over the MCG on Friday night for Round 2 of the NAB AFLW season and our AFL Qualifying Final against the Swans.

“We encourage as many supporters as possible to help fill the stands and show their Demon Spirit.”

AFLW memberships for Season Seven are still available here, with members given priority access to tickets and FREE entry to all home games.

For those wanting to show their Demon Spirit this Friday at the MCG, tickets for the double-header are available here
