Melbourne Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Premiership Player Noel Clarke.

Clarke, who joined the Demons in 1951, played in Melbourne’s 1955 Premiership, kicking three goals on the day.

In his first year with the Demons, Clarke managed to kick 25 goals in 13 games.

The key forward went on to finish his VFL/AFL career playing 77 games and kicking 155 goals over five seasons with the Demons.

This included a Grand Final appearance in the 1954 season, where Clarke finished third on the goal-kicking tally that year.

Clarke was also named a ‘Hero’ of the club during its 150th celebrations in 2008.

A key figure in Tasmania, Clarke achieved the rare feat of being selected in three "best" teams.

He was selected at full forward in North Launceston's official 'Best Team 1945-1999' at centre half forward, in New Norfolk's official 'Best Team 1947-2001' and in North Hobart's official 'Team of the Twentieth Century'.

The Club extends its deepest sympathies to Clarke’s family and friends.
