MELBOURNE’S 29-point win over the Crows was built on the back of some great individual performances.

Ed Langdon’s was one of those.

The Demons’ wingman amassed 33 disposals and slotted a crucial last quarter goal to help his side outlast Adelaide on the road.

“Sometimes in footy you’ve just got to win like that and grind it out,” Langdon told Melbourne Media post-game.

“I think the expected score had us winning by a fair way, so sometimes footy’s just like that and you’ve just got to win the hard way.

“It probably wasn’t until late in the game where we were able to control the ball a bit and take away their pressure that we really started to get on top.”

Langdon, who many consider to be in All-Australian form this season, admits he hadn’t reached his lofty standards in recent outings, but there was no sign of that on Saturday evening.

“It was good to get back to my best,” he said.

“It’s probably been a few weeks where I hadn’t quite been where I wanted to be.

“So it was good to get back to feeling good out there.”

The 26-year-old wasn’t the only dominant Demon midfielder, with Clayton Oliver (36 disposals) and Christian Petracca (33 disposals and three goals) at their reliable best.

“They certainly make it a lot easier for me,” Langdon said.

“I probably get the best seat in the house to watch them go about it.

“It’s pretty special – they’re incredible players and if I can help them in any way, shape or form then I will.”
