MELBOURNE skipper Max Gawn was back running at Casey Fields on Monday morning, taking big steps forward in his syndesmosis rehab.

Gawn will be hoping to return to action quicker than expected, but will be unlikely to return in time for Saturday’s clash with the Crows.

There were more positive signs at the Demons’ first main training session ahead of Round 16, with Daniel Turner (face), Blake Howes (foot) and Joel Smith (ankle) all partaking in the skills-based drills.

The trio remain two to four weeks away from match play, but are on track in their respective recoveries.

Tom McDonald didn’t step on the track, but he was busy in the gym after getting out of his cast and receiving positive feedback from his specialist last week.

Watch below as Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith provides an update on the club’s full injury list.
